What is the process to get into the Academy of Aging?
You must be working with an AHS health professional / family Doctor and acquire an evaluation designation for our facility. Our designated care supports SL4 and SL4D. There is a waiting period, up to one year, depending on availability.
What is the cost of living?

What if my loved one cannot afford the fees?
Working with your transition team, a social worker will be available to you to assist with securing additional funding.
What’s included in the fee?
- Three (3) meals per day plus snacks and beverages
- Weekly housekeeping (family to provide linens and towels)
- Emergency Response Pendant (SL4 only)
- 24 hour Nursing Staff-Associates onsite
- Private apartment with a personal bathroom
- Internet/WIFI
- Landscaping, snow removal, outside window cleaning
- Utilities — electricity and natural gas
- Garbage collection and removal
- Property taxes, heat/air, water and sewage
- Maintenance services
- Access and use of our AHS in-house physicians and pharmacy
- Access to our Wellness Center and our AHS Managers for consultation
- Daily scheduled activities, entertainment, fitness, programs and stretch & flex exercise classes
- Group outings, shopping and activities; organized by our Recreational Therapist (using our own shuttle bus)

What is the size of the suite?
Each room is a private studio apartment with a private personal bathroom.
There are 6 different floor plans all studio style ranging in size from approximately 350 sqft to 425 and couple’s suite approximately 650 sqft.
How much/what type of furniture can we bring?
We recommend bringing a single bed, dresser, TV stand and an easy chair/armchair.
Are appliances allowed in the suite?
Yes, a small fridge, that can fit under the counter. Depending on evaluation (SL4) we will also allow a toaster and a kettle/coffee maker. Tea/coffee as well as a toast is always available from the staff on the floor for those Residents who are unable to have the appliances in their rooms.
Do you have a parking for visitors?
Yes, there is an underground parking available for visitors.
Is there any outdoor space for the Residents?
Family is welcome to pick the resident up and visit our 5th floor patio or go for a walk in the neighbourhood.
How secure is the building?
For the Residents who are at flight risk (SL4D) or Residents unable to make decisions about moving outside freely, we have a secured area, big enough for walks and interactions with other Residents, but secure from the outside with alarmed doors.
Every Resident has an emergency call system that they wear on their wrist like a bracelet. This bracelet also allows access to elevators. For our SL4D Residents, the elevator will alarm and lock until someone unlocks it or the Resident steps out.
What is the process after we are accepted and the tour is finished?
Lease Signing –Tuesdays and Thursdays @11:00, and 1:00 with Laura Strath (our Licensed Marketing Professional); please bring following documents:
i. Power of Attorney document
ii. Personal Directive
iii. Void cheque or banking info
iv. Damage deposit cheque in the amount of $500 (we also take cash)
vi. Resident’s Alberta Health card
Pre-admission Conference – depending on AHS recommendations/dictates, the pre-admission conference may be done in person with our clinical team at the same time as the lease signing, or by phone after the lease signing at your convenience.
Furniture Moves – all move ins must be done between 8:00 am to 11:30am or 2:00 pm to 4;00 pm any day of the week. Our preferred movers are Seniors N Motion contact Scott at 403 651 0840
